PAUL BRADFORD
Why I coach
I have had the great fortune to be guided by coaches throughout my life.
As an injured teenager I was rehabilitated by a charismatic therapist, who inspired me to graduate as a physiotherapist.
Inspired by my father's bodybuilding success, I started weightlifting with him age 12, and I eventually was crowned Northern UK middleweight bodybuilding champion.
I transitioned to endurance sport, again guided by coaches, and achieved qualification for Boston Marathon. In Boston, I broke 3 hours, a feat which I repeated several times across the World Marathon Majors, publising my training methods in the 'Sub-3 Hour Marathon Playbook' in 2022.
Looking for a greater challenge, the next target was to qualify for the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, which I achieved after 10 years of dedication.
4 weeks before competing in Kona I was involved in a crash whilst cycling, and given a 10% chance of survival. This was a moment I had been preparing for all my life. Each of my coaches on the journey had prepared me for this moment.
After learning to walk again, 2 years after the accident I proudly crossed the finish-line in Kona, thanks to the teamwork of family, friends and coaches.
I am honoured to lead teams in the corporate world of Medical Devices, spending 50% of each year away from home on international travel. I have optimized athletic performance whilst on-the-road and love to share these learnings.
At each stage of growth in my life I have learned that life is a team-sport. I have taken guidance and inspiration from coaches who were ahead of me on the path, and I am passionate about coaching others to acheive their next breakthrough.
